Skiddle.com – Office Renovation

In 2004 we were tasked with converting former gym in Preston into the world headquarters of Skiddle.com. Using our knowledge of the construction industry and our keen eye for detail we were able to complete the renovation whilst merging modern comforts and technology within a traditional building.

The Brief

Croft View were instructed by Skiddle.com – the UK’s largest online ticket sale and event company – to convert an unused gym which was housed within an old extended barn, into a high end and high tech head office for the company. It needed to comprise of an open plan office area, a staff room, an upstairs office area, glass pods for both meetings and relaxing, a room for all the servers, storage room, toilet and shower area and kitchen. Most importantly it needed to be both funky and functional, as well as being eye catching for a modern company.

In the Beginning

We began by completely stripping out the entire building, removing some non-load bearing walls to create the space for the open plan offices. Countless skips were filled during this process due to the size of the building and the complete change of use and layout. We installed a new floor which included underfloor heating in the open plan area. Many 100 meters of heating pipes were installed in the vast space.

The Ongoing Project

Next we created false ceilings and stud walling to partition off the various rooms which were to be included in the building. The electricians ran 100s of meters of electric, data and fibre optic cables around the building. We installed 8 remote control Velux windows throughout. We insulated and plaster boarded ceilings and stud walls and plastered throughout leaving some exposed original Yorkshire stone walls as features.

The Finish

The skirtings and architraves throughout were all a sleek bespoke design as requested by the customer. It gave the building an effortless way of interlinking modern style with original features. The glass pods were installed by a specialist company and the building was decorated throughout with vibrant colours and funky furniture.

The customers are extremely happy with the finish of the build and enjoy working at their new Head Office on a daily basis.
