Adam Profile Pic

Adam Pate

Adam carried out his joinery apprenticeship with Story Construction aged 16.

He then became a professional rugby player for Barrow Raiders in Cumbria and Cessnock Goannas in Australia, but had to retire early due to injury.

Following 6 years of joinery employment, building up his skill set and competency, he founded Croft View Construction in 2006 as a sole trader.

Due to Adam's extremely high level of skill, determination and quality of workmanship the Company has gone from strength to strength with an ever growing team - who he is happy to introduce you to below!

Mario 1

Mario Mezzullo

Mario is a man of very many talents, which is precisely why he is one of Croft View's Directors!

He started out as a joinery apprentice nearly 40 years ago and has worked in construction ever since. His impressive background includes awards and recognition for his skills in project management.

Mario loves his work so much that he built his own house with his own fair hands. He's also an enthusiastic motorbike man so will often be found winding through the highways and byways of South West Scotland and North West England.

He's a family man: a father and a grandfather, and spends a lot of time at the house he built enjoying good food with his family, or lending a hand to their building projects too.

Alison Pate

Alison Pate is Adam's wife. She is always on hand to support in the office and support the team with the view to making sure everyone is happy, healthy, and glad to be at work.

Ali is originally from Gloucestershire and moved to Carlisle to live with Adam.

She works part time for Croft View Construction, and the rest of the time is at home looking after their two small daughters.

She is a keen horse rider, new yoga enthusiast, wants to save the world from harsh chemicals and is a general busy body! Ali is an active campaigner for quality education that takes a child's individuality and mental health into account.

Stacey McEwan

Stacey McEwan joined us in March 2017, poached for her excellent work ethics and the skills that she can bring to our team as the Finance Manager.

Stacey studied and achieved her BA (Hons) Business Management Degree. She has worked for the University of Cumbria for 5 years in an Administration role and then went on to System Training where she worked in the Quality and Audit team for a further 5 years.

Stacey lives in Annan with her husband and 2 small children, and enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends. She is always at the centre of a whirlwind of activity like every supermum excelling at her career and the more important job of parenting while she organises the lives of her family and her colleagues.

Janine HR pic

Janine Toms

Janine came on board to do a bit of marketing, business development, and interfering.

She studied languages at university, which required that she live in both Russia and Italy so she could become fluent, and nearly 20 years later there is little evidence that such fluency was ever achieved...

Janine worked in the lower echelons of the legal profession for nearly a decade before deciding a career change was in order for the sake of her sanity and has since honed her customer service and communication skills at System Group where a talent for, or obsession with, words landed her in marketing.

She has no claim to fame besides some childhood TV appearances (autograph requests can be made through our contact form) and a single (self) published children's book.

She loves spending quality time with family and friends and is a keen collector (hoarder) of vintage items of dubious practicality.

Mike Pate

Mike qualified as a plumber and heating engineer in the 1960's, with an established firm John Corbetts.

In 1979 Mike became self-employed and registered with CORGI, now known as Gas Safe. Two years ago Mike semi-retired and is now employed by his son, Adam, for Croft View Construction.

Mike's Saturdays involve refereeing at Cumbria Rugby Union matches, and he plays 5-a-side football on Friday evenings. If Mike is not fishing in Australia you will find him trout fishing on the River Eden.

Malcolm Anderson

Malcolm is a very talented, highly skilled joiner with 30 years' experience. He's dedicated and detail oriented and a pretty funny guy to top it all off.

He loves travelling and exploring new and interesting places with his wife when he isn't hard at work.

Gary Waugh

Gary has been a joiner for 28 years. He served his apprenticeship at Grahams in Langholm, who enjoyed the fantastic fruits of his labour and considerable skills until it closed its doors. He has now brought his experience and his talents to the Croft View Team and we couldn't be happier to have him here.

In his spare time, he likes to get out on his motorbike, go out for meals with his girlfriend and friends, and visit family, his niece and two nephews in particular.

Fame beckoned when he and another joiner renovated a large bell tower in Dumfries and were filmed on the day that it was craned back in place at the top of the tower. If you want proof that this is a true story, you'll have to climb up and have a good look around for Gary's name chiselled into one of the oak posts!

James Aherne

James joined us as a brand new joinery apprentice. He has already impressed everyone with his work ethic and with his enthusiasm. He is definitely one to watch as his skills grow and grow and we're so pleased to be a part of building (pardon the pun) those skills as he learns from the absolute best in the business!

In his spare time, James loves to practice his football skills and plays whenever he can.

Faye Davidson

Faye is an apprentice who came on board as an Administrative Assistant. She is supporting Stacey and Janine in the office and has been doing an incredible job. She works hard, is very organised, and is super efficient.

She previously studied Level 2 Beauty Therapy at Carlisle College before switching to Business Administration. She is interested in interior design so will hopefully get to build some experience in that area in the company's property development!

In her spare time, Faye loves going for walks around the Lake District, spending time with friends and family, and going out to eat. She keeps an eye out for new eateries and adds them to her wish list - maybe it's time for her to start a restaurant blog!

Edward Sawdon

Edward joined us as a new apprentice. He is always keen to learn and works very hard. He has been proactive from his first day with us and we are very excited to be part of his journey into the working world.

Edwards likes to spend time socialising with friends. He's also a sporty chap who enjoys football and golf. He also used to play cricket for the Cumbria District and was chuffed to meet the whole England Cricket Squad in Durham.

His ambition is to constantly learn and improve his skills and we are more than happy to help him achieve that ambition!

Michael Kenyon

James Stainton

James has come on board as a joiner with more than 15 years' experience.

He likes to keep fit swimming and going to the gym. He also loves cooking so his other pastimes are eating a lovely home cooked meal and enjoying an accompanying glass of wine.

His greatest claim to fame is playing rugby for Carlisle on Sky TV at Gateshead International Stadium before the charity shield game between Wigan and St. Helens.

He's aiming to be able to do his own renovation projects one day so, watch this space!

Trevor Lockwood

Trevor has more than 20 years' experience in the trade and joins us as a labourer.

He's an active guy who also knows how to chill as his hobbies include motorbikes and downhill cycling and also fishing. Maybe he bikes to the lake and has a peaceful afternoon sitting by the lake with his fishing rod.

He also loves to travel and hopes to add more places to his travel list, at home and abroad.

His claim to fame is appearing on DIY SOS in Abbeytown. We'll have to make full use of his on camera experience for Croft View's social media pages!

Bryce Halliburton

Bryce joins us as our new labourer who has worked in the construction industry for 29 years.

He likes to keep fit so he's often seen either at the gym or going biking. He enjoys spending quality time with his son.

His claim to fame includes a TV appearance in a news segment about the floods in Carlisle and hobnobbing with famous folk when he was a waiter in his youth - he served Kim Wilde and Hinge & Bracket.

Bryce strives to be good at everything he does and seeks to improve at every opportunity. He's a real team player who likes to get on with everyone.

Jay Wilson

Jay is our new bricklaying apprentice. He has been doing really well on his course and he can't wait to start putting his knowledge in to practice and building (pardon the pun) his skills.

Jay loves to play football and has been a bit of a contender in the boxing ring - he has competed all over the UK and has picked up a fair few trophies!

He's keen to learn and work hard toward his goal of becoming a qualified bricklayer. He'll be a great help to our bricklaying team and we're excited to see how he does!

Shaun McCormick

Shaun is our new multi-skilled labourer. He's worked in the trade for 21 years.

Though Shaun really loves to spend time with his friends and having plenty of quality family time, he also has a passion for bird breeding. He breeds and shows caged birds.

He actually won Best Novice Bengalese in the National Caged Birds Show!

Shaun's other claim to fame is meeting Joey Dunlop at the TT Bike Races. His ambition is... winning the lottery! Good luck with that one, Shaun!
